First Things First
comes with an excellent manual. Read it to understand all of the various combat controls and understand the basic mechanics of gameplay. You'll also find extensive weapon and Force Power information inside. It's like a mini strat guide… minus the walkthrough and secrets. Explore it, and your game will be much deeper.

Getting Started
The same applies to your clothing and lightsaber choices. All of these things are cosmetic. Later in the game, you'll be able to level up to Fast Lightsaber Combat Style, but your choices in the beginning do not affect progression. Go ahead and choose the coolest looking Jedi with the baddest laser blade, and get to the Academy, before you're tardy.
Health and Shields
There are two separate things to keep track of in the health department: health and shields. If you have a shield activated, you can take 100 points of damage before any harm to your person. Therefore, it's always crucial to make sure your shields are in order. To gain more shields, pick up Small or Large Shield Boosters, or refill at the glowing green shield recharge stations scattered throughout the game.

If your shields are depleted in combat, your health will start decreasing when you take damage. To heal your body, you have a few options. First off, you can collect Med Packs scattered throughout the levels. Secondly, you can use the Force Power Force Heal to regain some vitality (you must first purchase that ability). Every time you finish a level, both your shields and health will reset, so don't worry about trying to save health before returning to the Academy.
Weapons and Ammo
Fallout 76 mod nexus.
Fallout 76 mod nexus.
- E-11 Blaster Rifle: This bad boy is exactly what the stormtroopers tote around. It's primary fire is a single laser bolt, and its secondary is a barrage of laser blasts. This is a good standard weapon choice, simply because it's versatile.
- Tenloss Disruptor Rifle: The weapon of choice for the Rodian characters in the game, the Disruptor has a sniper zoom function as secondary. Not the best selection, unless the mission you're on requires lots of long-range shooting.
- Wookiee Bowcaster: The Wookiee weapon of choice has two settings, but both fire green energy bolts. Hold down the primary attack button, then release for several bolts at once. The secondary attack is a deflecting bolt. The bowcaster works well early in the game, but once the Repeater and Flechette are available, it should be left behind.
- Imperial Heavy Repeater: The rate of fire on this weapon is ultra-impressive. It's like that line from Jackie Brown… 'When you absolutely, positively, have to kill every mutha**** in the room.' The secondary function is a deadly energy grenade, which will either kill or knock a target off his feet.
- Destructive Electromagnetic Pulse Gun: If you know you're entering a mission stocked with droids, like the Coruscant mission, this is the heater to pack. It wreaks havoc on electrical systems, including those of droids.
- Golan Arms FC-1 Flechette Weapon: Devastating at close range, the Flechette is like an intergalactic shotgun. Get up close to your target, and you'll send them flying. This is an awesome multiplayer weapon. Its secondary attack is a mine launcher. Deadly.
- Stouker Concussion Rifle: An all-or-nothing weapon, the concussion rifle will even damage you when you fire it. The secondary attack will cause enemies to be tossed into the air. Lovely.
- Merr-Sonn PLX-2M Portable Missile System: Every game needs a rocket launcher… even a Jedi game. This amazing piece of weaponry is stocked with missiles similar the ones AT-STs are armed with. The secondary attack is a target-seeking missile.
- Thermal Detonator: Just like in Jedi, the detonator is basically a heat grenade. Toss it and wait for the blast, or use the secondary attack to make the det explode on contact.
- Detonation Pack: This weapon allows you to set multiple detonation packs, then explode them all with a trigger. Not as helpful in combat as it could be… although it does allow you to set traps.
- Trip Mine: Trip mines can be placed on floors or walls. If a target crosses its laser beam, the mine will detonate. The alternate attack is similar to that of the thermal detonator.
To pick up weapons, simply walk over them. Weapons you do not yet have will be added to your inventory, and weapons you do have will be reloaded. You cannot drop weapons. In order to reload energy weapons, you'll have to find an orange recharger station.
Ranged Weapon Combat
- Use your environment to your advantage. If you're getting dinged up, duck back behind cover, then recompose yourself and spring back out to deal damage. Also, if you're on a ledge, use a weapon that knocks an enemy back, and you'll get a cheap kill if they fall off.
- Always try to kill enemies from distance before moving in close. If you have a Disruptor, you can snipe from quite far away, and pick off enemies before they even know you're there.
- Don't be afraid to retreat. Sometimes, dropping back and healing is the only way to go.
- Know your weapons. For instance, know that you should use a Pulse Gun against a droid, and a Flechette against something made of meat.
- Use the element of surprise. Sometimes, you'll stumble upon a group of unsuspecting enemies. If possible, drop a detonator into the mix, or shoot them all when they aren't looking.
- In combat, always stay on the move. Run in zag-zags and jump, so you're difficult to hit.
- Don't forget about the secondary function of your weapons. It's usually a more powerful or explosive version of the main gun.
- When in doubt, Force Protect. This will provide a little armor if you're unaware of how hairy a situation is going to get.
Lightsaber Combat
Throughout the game, your lightsaber abilities will progress. When you first begin your training, you'll use Medium Lightsaber Combat Style. However, as you progress, you'll learn Fast Style, and ultimately, Strong style. To change styles during play, press L. Each Style has its strengths and weaknesses. For most standard fighting, it's okay to stick with Medium.
As you progress, you'll get new abilities, like wielding dual sabers, and even a double-bladed weapon. These sabers have their own separate attacks, but also provide you with a lot more Jedi offense.
Here are a few tips on how to wield it like Luke:
- Study the controls in the manual. Knowing how to perform special moves becomes crucial in later fights.
- Always have your saber drawn in close quarters, as it will deflect weapons fire, especially as you reach the upper levels.
- Switch up your styles based on the fight. If you're facing two Jedi, for instance, you don't want to use the Strong Lightsaber Style, as it leaves you open.
- If you become locked during a battle with another Jedi, quickly press your attack button to break the clinch. If you lose, you'll be on the ground, so pound that button!
- Don't worry if your lightsaber attacks are blocked by another Jedi… just keep swinging! As with any fencing, there is a fair amount of weapon-to-weapon contact in a saber fight.

This was the ONLY method that worked for me:
Find jasp.exe,
Right click,
Create shortcut,
Right click on the shortcut,
Go to properties,
Copy and paste the following into the target line, your exact path may vary,
'C:GOG GamesStar Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi AcademyGameDatajasp.exe' +set g_sabermorerealistic 2 +g_dismember 100 +cg_dismember 100 +helpusobi 1
Why is this necessary? The new releases include a patch which has this mode write protected in the settings. With this, you can play the game as it was meant to be played with full dismemberment. If you change set g_sabermorerealistic 2 to 3, the lightsaber is deadly at ALL times. That means idle animations, death animations, etc. I also recommend the cheat, 'iknowkungfu.' That adds Kyle's special melee style for the player to use, as well as maxes your force powers. That can be turned on with either helpusobi 1 or devmapall.

I use the following autoexec:
seta helpusobi '1'
seta g_sabermorerealistic '2'
seta g_dismemberprobabilities '0'

seta g_corpseRemovalTime '0'
seta g_dismemberment '3' // 0 = no dism. 3 = allow all

What I can't find anywhere is what does g_dismemberprobabilities exactly do? Some say set it to 100 others say set to 0 to dismember every time.. I have it at 0 but I can't see any difference. Some NPCs will never dismember at all with this set to either 0 or 100..

The 'g_dismemberprobabilities' maybe not works on version 1.01 and was replaced with an another command. It is do the same as the realistic combat, but it do no death blows. So your opponent will be dismembered only if they die from the blow itself. But not even with 100% probability.seta helpusobi '1'
